These Gold Hallmarks for Pat McGrath Beauty Lab were a great challenge with a very high end finish.
The pieces were sent off to be chemically finished using a silvering solution and tinted lacquer.
As this process uses liquid, I had to construct the pieces out of acrylic as MDF or timber would saturate.
The Logos and features of the Hallmarks were also milled out of acrylic on the CNC and polished smooth before being bonded to the cubes with acrylic glue. Great care had to be taken to ensure the surfaces and finish of the pieces were free from any defects or imperfections before being sent for chroming as the finish would really highlight even minor scratches or hairline join lines.
