Santa's sleigh for Bentall's Centre

Largely timber construction using CNC'd MDF parts, layered and shaped to create the detailed skis, sidings and carriage.

The chassis was a simple box steel construction to take the weight of the carriage and also to allow the sleigh to be transported in 2 pieces and be bolted together on location.

The carriage section was made using CNC cut profiles with timber ribs for strength, then laminated over with flexible Ply and MDF to produce a smooth curve.

The final piece could be broken down into 5 main sections (carriage, sides, skis), making it easier to manage in the workshop and meaning the job could be completed in a short turn around.
